Beth Williams is the Playboy Playmate for August 2012. “Summer is my favorite season!” exclaims Miss August Beth Williams. “I love to live of the land, garden and bake, so it’s the perfect time for me. For now, however, I want to save money from my modeling jobs to open a nursing home.” She plans to make it a family business. “My mom and aunts are nurses, and my sister is a physical therapist. The idea would be to have all of them work there with me.”
In the meantime, she’s savoring the steamy perks of being Miss August. “A friend recently told me that August is the best month to be a Playmate for two reasons – it has 31 days, and it’s the hottest month of all. I thought, Hmm, I’ll take that!”

It was a cold day in October 1998, and when Cara’s mom read that the Playboy 2000 Playmate search bus was coming to their hometown of Toronto looking for new Playmates, she urged her hesitant daughter to go for a photo test. Thank goodness she did.
Q: This is your first modeling gig. How did your mother persuade you to try out for Playboy?
A: When she saw the newspaper article about the Playmate 2000 search, she started jumping up and down, saying, “You have to do this. You can do it.” I’ve never been very confident about my appearance. As we pulled into the parking lot, I saw ten beautiful blondes waiting in line. I said, “Mom, take me home. What am I doing here?” She said, “Cara, if you don’t get out of this car right now, I’m dragging you in there.” After the test shoot, I thought, It would have been tragic if I had bailed out at the last minute.
Q: Is it true that your nickname in school was Skippy?
A: Yes, because I skipped so many days of class. For a while, I hated school. My mom was open-minded and understood if I didn’t want to go. Eventually, I realized that if you don’t have an education, you’re not going to go very far. I pushed myself to go all the way.

Driving cross-country to pursue a dream was easier with Jared along. “We’ve been dating for five years and he’s my best friend,” she says of her beau. “We were both athletic in high school and actually hated each other at first. He was a big-time jock, kind of an asshole, and I had no interest in getting to know him. But one day we were running beside each other on the treadmills and started talking, and we saw we had something.” Crista enjoyed softball, soccer, basketball and track, and she even gave cheerleading a try to overcome her shyness. “I hung out with honor students and bookworms to keep out of trouble,” she says. “I surrounded myself with positive things because I really didn’t enjoy school — the book part of it, that is.” Miss May went to college at Kent State, where she studied psychology before deciding to model. “I’m going to finish school when my modeling career is over,” she says. “When I was in college I wasn’t happy at all. There was something missing — I didn’t want to do thetypical ‘go to college, get a 40-hour-a-week job and have a family’ thing right away.”
