Nicole Whitehead is the Playboy Playmate for May 2004. Licensed pilot Nicole Whitehead — yes, she flies airplanes — is absolutely fearless. “The first time I flew a plane was also the first time I went skydiving,” says the 23-year-old. “I literally dived out the plane door — they couldn’t open it fast enough. When I was free-falling I could see all this amazing scenery at one time — the ocean, the city and the area where the NASA shuttles take off. It was so pretty, I think I started to cry.” Back on solid ground, Nicole, with ample Southern charm (she’s from Alabama and lives in Florida), explained to the pilot that while skydiving was a trip, she would be even more excited actually flying the plane. How could he resist? “He took me up and let me take the controls,” she says. “It was the best day I ever had. I knew right then that I had to fly for a living.” Nicole earned her pilot’s license in August 2003 and is currently chalking up solo flight hours.
Meanwhile, to help pay for flight school, she works at a local bar (most requested drink: Alabama slammer), models (you may have spotted her on the 2001 cover of Playboy’s Natural Beauties special edition) and steals the spotlight in music videos (in Ricky Martin’s “She Bangs,” she dances — or bangs — herself into a frenzy). While definitely a girl on the rise, Nicole isn’t going after red carpet megafame. “I would be perfectly happy flying other celebrities around the world rather than being one myself,” she says.

“People assume that because I was brought up on Rolling Stones tours and my father is who he is, I’m some kind of rock-and-roll bad girl,” she says, giggling. “But I do like to have a bit of fun.”
Lizzy says her parents didn’t have any issues with their daughter revealing herself in the intimate photos you see here. “They understood that when you don’t know when you’re going to have kids, it’s nice to have wonderful pictures of your 20-something self. And at 27, I feel comfortable expressing myself through my body.”

Cody: The best experience would have to be football or basketball. I’ve been to both games. There’s usually a bunch of drunk, rowdy people, so that makes it fun.
Playboy: How are the campus parties?
Cody: I’ve been to some crazy theme parties like White Trash Bash, black light parties, Boats and Hos and Bikinis and Martinis. Partying on Unofficial St. Patty’s Day is the best, though. Everyone and their mom skip class and starts drinking at 8 a.m. until they pass out around 8 p.m. There’s an endless sea of green people all over the main strip on campus and green beer everywhere.

When we met the guitar goddess during her shoot at Playboy Studio West, her enthusiasm about life was infectious. “I’ve always been a rebel,” says Grace. “I play a mean game of Guitar Hero, and I’m willing to challenge anybody. Playboy: How do you stay fit and avoid the Freshman 15?
Vivian: I work out with my trainer three days a week and… watch what I eat. Fortunately, I’m not a big junk food fan. I love to eat veggies and fruits—fresh, light and I don’t feel guilty afterward.
Playboy: What’s the best part of being a single coed?
Vivian: I can do anything I want! I’m very flirty and I don’t have to worry about a boyfriend. I like to focus on time for myself and go out with my friends on the weekends.
Playboy: So what does a guy have to do to get you to flirt with him?
Vivian: I’m very attracted to guys who introduce themselves with a low voice and make a great first impression. Complimenting me is important, too. Those things make me think about them again at the end of the day.

Christina Santiago is the Playboy Playmate for August 2002, and this gorgeous brunette won the crown of Playboy Playmate of the Year for 2003. The 20-year-old Chicago native’s striking features helped her become a professional model, and she appeared in Fox’ Girl Next Door: The Search for a Playboy Centerfold. “I didn’t feel uncomfortable, because I’m content with my body, and I’m not afraid to show it.” She was even less shy around the cameramen recording her every move for two weeks — much of the footage was deemed too hot for television. “We couldn’t talk to the crew at all,” she says. “The only thing that we could do when the cameramen left the room, which was probably mean on our part, was to purposely do something outrageous so they’d run back to the room trying to get to their cameras. I made out with this girl on the show, but I don’t think you see that on network TV.” So all signs point to the contestants’ getting along, right? “Everyone thought there would be catfights. But the contract specifically said, ‘No pulling hair, no spitting, no biting,’” she says. “I was laughing so hard!”
